If Jim was half as good at his job as he was at pranking Dwight he would’ve been the CEO of Dunder Mifflin.

 

Hello, and welcome to my super expert opinion on all things pranks. By super expert opinion I mean things that I find hilarious. The Office thrived off of the pranks that Jim played on Dwight. Jim seemed to have the attention span of a goldfish (which btw is 3 seconds) so he found other ways to use his attention and that was by playing pranks on Dwight. I have quite a few that I love and there are some classics that I am going to go more in depth into.

 

To start, the stapler in the Jell-O prank will always be a classic Office meme and one that will always bring a laugh. I like the funny, easy jokes but my favorite ones are the more in-depth pranks that Jim planned for awhile or had to pay attention to a lot of details to get Dwight to believe it.

#5 :    One episode, called “Branch Closing” Dwight is receiving messages from himself… in the future. Future Dwight (aka Jim) told current Dwight that someone was going to poison the coffee at 8 am. When Dwight receives this news he immediately spots Stanley about to drink coffee and tackles him to the ground and saving him from drinking the poisonous coffee.

#4: Jim dresses up like Dwight to mock him and talks like him. If you have ever heard the famous quote "Bears. Beets. BattleStar Galactica."   That quote is from this episode. The reason it's so funny is because Dwight insists that it's not funny and gets pretty mad and eventually Dwight tries to mock Jim but cannot do it. The reason I love this prank is because of how petty it is and how Dwight always lets it affect him instead of ignoring it. Dwight as a whole is just such a complex, interesting character.

#3:  In the episode "Business Ethics", Dwight claims he never wastes any company time. This prompts Jim to naturally pull out a stop watch and time Dwight overtime he does anything personal include yawning and using the bathroom. Since Dwight is so competitive and driven to be a good employee he responds by doing absolutely nothing but work. Classic.

#2:  This prank probably ties for the top for me but I have to put it at number two. Jim has to go to the dentist so of course why wouldn't he play a prank on Dwight while he's gone. Jim has his actor friend come in and pretend to be him. He replaced all his family pictures of himself and Pam and his kids with pictures with his actor friend. It's hilarious because Dwight is certain that Jim doesn't look like that and that he's being pranked but then he looks at the pictures and was very shaken up. One of the best things about Dwight is his facial expressions. He cannot hide anything so when he's surprised he is SURPRISED.  ("Andy's Ancestry")

#1:  Since I am a softy at heart my favorite "prank" that Jim plays on Dwight is on Dwight's wedding day. Jim is Dwight's bestest mench which means best man, so Jim is in charge of all the weird traditions the Shrute family does. But, before the wedding he tells Dwight he can't uphold that position anymore and the reason is because Michael Scott should have that position. If you haven't seen The Office then this is a *spoiler alert*. Earlier in the show Michael moves away and that is Dwight's best friend so when he shows up to the wedding *cue tears* I couldn't help but call it Jim's best prank. ("Finale")

So as you can see Jim LOVES to egg Dwight on in any way possible. Like I said earlier he will do anything but actually do his work and that is why I like the Dwight and Jim dynamic so much. Their characters are so different and yet work so well together to create a great show. Maybe someday Dwight will finally figure out a good prank back.
